Parkfield Youth Centre in Paignton is scaling new heights and running more of its popular six week climbing courses on its amazing indoor climbing wall. There's now a course for everyone and every ability.

Back by popular demand are the Kids Climbing Courses for 8 to 14 year olds, but with a difference! Starting on Saturday 10 November and every Saturday for six weeks, there will be two one hourly courses. The first at 10.30am is for beginners. The next course at 11.30am is for young people who have already taken part in Parkfield's previous six week courses or are more competent. They will be able to develop their climbing techniques and start work towards an accreditation supplied by the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme.

The cost for the six week courses is £25 for Members and £40 for Non Members. There are only eight spaces available on each course so call to book your slot now.

The very popular Tiny Climbers sessions for 5 to 7 year olds are still running every Saturday at 1pm and 2pm, but due to demand an extra session has been put on a Tuesday afternoon at 4pm. There are four spaces available on all of these Tiny Climbers sessions so call to book your slot. Each session costs £4 per child.

For adults there are two six week courses starting in November. The first is the popular Women’s Only Climbing Course for any female over the age of 18. It's a great opportunity to keep fit, build stamina, but most importantly have fun in a safe and informal environment. These sessions start on Tuesday 6 November from 10.30am to 12noon.

The second is an Introduction to Climbing course and is for men and women who want to learn to climb. The course covers a wide range of skills from belaying to top roping, movement and technique, as well as advice on equipment and safe use of climbing walls. This course starts on Wednesday 7 November from 6pm to 7.30pm. Both these six weekly courses will cost £65 for Climbing Wall Members or £80 for Non Members.

Torbay Council's Executive Lead with responsibility for sport, Councillor Robert Excell, said: "I can say from personal experience that the climbing wall is great fun. I had a go at one of the taster sessions and I would thoroughly recommend it.

"It's really important that young people and adults are active. So if you've ever wanted to have a go climbing then give Parkfield a call and book your session. It's a fun and challenging sport which can be enjoyed by a wide age range of people."

"Parkfield has some fantastic facilities and we want adults as well as young people to be able to make the most of all it has to offer."

Parkfield has now been open for one year and features an international BMX track and skate park, a fantastic indoor climbing wall, sports hall with retractable seating for theatre use, DJ/Recording Studios, state of the art Apple Mac IT suite, training/meeting rooms and a café area.

Membership for 8 to 17 year olds at Parkfield is £12 for one year and this gives them access to reduced cost activities and free access to all of Parkfield's youth clubs. Parkfield's Adult Climbing Wall Membership costs £10 for 12 months and offers reduced costs on all sessions taking place on the climbing wall.
