DESTINATION entertainment specialist Scarlett Entertainment of Newton Abbot has been shortlisted for this year's Middle East Event Awards.
There were over 300 entries submitted for the awards. Winners will be announced later this month (may) at a glittering gala dinner hosted by comedian Phil Jupitus.
Scarlett Entertainment has been shortlisted in the Best Entertainment Production category for its Aerial Vertical Fashion Show which was performed on the world's tallest building as part of the month-long Dubai Shopping Festival earlier this year.
Professional aerialists ' strutted their stuff' in a vertical fashion show on the side of the Burj Khalifa as catwalk models performed on a more conventional runway below. The show attracted attention from the world's media and was shown on TV news channels and appeared in the press in countries across the globe.
The Middle East Event Awards are a celebration of those involved within the events industry in the Middle East and recognise innovation as well as showcasing 'the diversity and excellence of the events and suppliers operating in the Middle East's event industry'.
Amy Capron, a spokesperson for Scarlett Entertainment, said: "This year has been an exciting one for the company, and this is further recognition of the hard work of staff and the world class talent that we represent. Scarlett Entertainment is a world leader in destination entertainment and has expanded its team to cope with the surge in enquiries from event planners from right across the globe.
"The announcement that we have been shortlisted for this award comes right on the heels of us being awarded Exporter of the Year at the Business Excellence Awards, as well as being nominated for the very first UK Blog Awards for our popular news pages. We know that 2014 will prove to be our most successful year to date, with some further exciting announcements planned this spring, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for the Middle East Event Awards."
The company has just been voted the Best Organisation Events Blog by judges at the very first UK Blog Awards in London. Hailed as the Oscars of the blogging world, the UK Blog Awards received more than 900 entries in 14 categories with the shortlist of finalists being decided via a public vote.
In March, Scarlett Entertainment was named Exporter of the Year at the Herald Express South Devon Business Excellence Awards.
