THE long spell of dry and sunny weather has led to record levels of customer demand for holidays in the South West and South Devon, with guests scrambling to book last-minute family breaks in the area.
Brixham based Blue Chip Holidays, which supplies four- and five-star self-catering properties and which has just taken on its 1,000th property, is anticipating a sell out on the English Riviera this month.
Commenting on the strengthening of the staycation Allan Lambert, managing director of Blue Chip Holidays, and director of The Institute of Travel and Tourism, said: "Customers have fallen well and truly in love with holidays in South of Devon where we have some of the best beaches in the world, some of the best chefs, a host of fantastic attractions, and a range of fabulous cultural events to keep the whole family entertained.
"Following the fantastic summer of 2013 we are seeing a tangible uplift in UK breaks with more travellers than ever actively choosing to holiday closer to home."
Allan added: "We focus on providing the very highest quality of holiday homes in the very best locations to meet demand from guests looking for places to rival anything that you can find overseas. These types of holiday homes perform exceptionally well bringing owners great returns and guests unforgettable holidays, and these are exactly the type of properties that we are looking to recruit to the business."
