A NEW Flood Alert has been issued for the River Teign area.

The alert came from the Environment Agency on Tuesday morning.

They say flooding is possible for the Rivers Teign, Bovey and Lemon and coastal streams from Babbacombe to Kenton from early on Tuesday morning.

Low lying land and roads will be affected first.

Rain falling overnight on Monday and into Tuesday morning is forecast to cause river levels to rise. Rainfall totals are forecast of an average of 15mm with localised maximum totals of 30mm possible over parts of Dartmoor.
