WORDS of wisdom were spoken by the new president of the Rotary Club of Babbacombe and St Marychurch at a Bay school leavers' ceremony.

President Steve Holdup visited Warberry C of E Primary School to present dictionaries to Year 6 pupils.

He said: "We hope the dictionaries will be a much-used companion for many years to come at their new schools."

The Usbourne Illustrated Dictionary is aimed at children aged from nine years old to encourage and improve literacy.

The Rotary Club of Babbacombe and St Marychurch invested in a number of the dictionaries to give to pupils in their final year at local primary schools.

Warberry C of E Primary School is one of several local schools involved in this project and Rotary hopes to extend the scheme to other primary schools in the area.
