SEE the work of Torquay artist Sally Lewis at the Palace Hotel, Torquay, from September 6-8.
In this exhibition, she reflects on her childhood and deals in her paintings of Torbay with concepts of memory, identity and sense of place.
Sally left Torquay to pursue a career in the world of finance in London and Bermuda but Torquay always remained home to her. She frequently returned to visit her parents and friends.
She now lives in Cyprus where she has studied oil painting under the tutorage of Miriam McConnon.
Sally carefully chose scenes of Torbay which have remained largely unchanged over time and are therefore evocative of her years living in south Devon.
The colours and forms of the scenes from the seaside towns that comprise Torbay merge the visual reflections in water with Sally's own emotional reflections as she looks back, through the media of her paintings, on childhood to adulthood memories.
Sally's work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Cyprus and her paintings are in private collections in the UK, Cyprus and Singapore.
