THE Co-operative food store in Preston has re-opened following a near £350,000 transformation.

To celebrate the opening of the new Torquay Road store, Ray Reardon — the six times World Snooker Champion – was joined by representatives of the 14th Torbay Sea Scout Group to cut the ribbon and declare the new-look food store open.

Mr Reardon was presented with a Co-operative food hamper, and the 14th Torbay Sea Scout Group received vouchers to use in the store, as a thank you from the Co-operative for taking part in the launch.

Mark Edgecombe, store manager, said: "I'm excited about welcoming customers into the new-look store.

"We know our customers lead busy lives and I'm confident the new store will provide them with exactly what they need."
