A POPULAR TORQUAY 5 piece band are set to release their debut single in November, with a London launch party scheduled at the end of the month.

In a week where Glastonbury Festival tickets sold out in record time, our own Glastonbury hopefuls Big Wave have announced their new single, 'Only You', will be released on November 5th via  London-based record label Beautiful Strange. Their release show to officially launch the single is at the Buffalo Bar in Islington, London, on October 29th.

The single's music video, an entertaining satirical take on speed dating, was filmed right here in Torquay at the Country House Inn in Ellacombe. Created by Plymouth-based production company Another Robot, it features a number of local extras, as bassist Pete Malone explains:

"We enlisted the help of several friends, along with up and coming musician Jake Down, to film in the upstairs function room on a very wet bank holiday Monday late in August. It was a lot of fun!"

"We're all very excited to be launching our official debut single," added Pete, "We've had some really positive feedback everywhere we've played and picked up some new fans on the way. I'm sure they'll all support us with the single."

The video for the new track is available to view here and the track is already winning rave reviews from the music industry, who regularly comment on the likeness of the band's sunshine pop to their hometown of Torquay. One review of the track from online reviewers Gold Flake Paint read:

"A marvellous slab of guitar-driven indie-pop and a track that firmly marks the band as one of the finest up-and-coming acts these shores currently has to offer. Yep, that good.''

Big Wave recently put on an intimate homecoming gig at Torquay seafront's One World Café, fresh from playing at Dorset's End of the Road Music Festival with Graham Coxon. They supported Metronomy in Torbay last year and have since been playing outside of Devon, including London. After their critically acclaimed debut EP 'The Roots of Love' sold out, the band recently thanked fans by releasing a free download of their  track 'Dying on the Vine' through Plymouth based label Art is Hard Records, available here.

They will be releasing their new 7" single 'Only You' and B-side 'Living Room' on November 5th. They are also performing at Oxjam in Plymouth on the 21st October. For more information, please click here
