Stage school pupils celebrate awards

STUDENTS at the Marilyn Stewart Stage School have been celebrating their successes at the Torbay and South West of England Festival.

Highlights included Sophie Martin and Annabel Browse's Anne of Green Gables performance, which is being put forward as part of a portfolio to be presented to the Queen on her birthday next year.

Performances included extracts from The Story Of My Life, Vanity Fair, Of Mice and Men, Musical Statues and The Ballad of Sir Francis Drake.

Freya Gidman, eight, received 86 marks and came first in acting for the Singleton Wright Shield.

Sophie Martin, 13, received 90 points and the Harriet Mills Memorial Cup for her acting piece with Annabel Browse.

Finlay Bald, 12, came first in the prose reading and solo improvisation, walking away with cups and 88 and 86 marks.

Olivia Ford, 17, received a huge crop of awards including 91 marks and the Lentell Plate for prose, three sets of 90 marks and two 88 marks.
