Barton Barracudas will play a star-studded Somerset Sabres in a Twenty20 match at Barton Cricket Club on Monday September 16.
In what promises to be the Bay’s cricket event of the year, Arul Suppia and other high profile Somerset cricket stars will play in this spectacular benefit match for Arul.
The following high profile cricketer have now been confirmed to play:
Doors open at 4pm, when Barton’s ground will come alive with a barbecue, beer tent, refreshments and raffle. Entry is free and everyone is welcome to come along and watch the match and join in with the festivities.
Jim Parker, Chairman of Barton Cricket Club, said: “We are delighted to be able to hold this benefit match for Arul at our ground. As well as being a fantastic event for all the family, it will be great to have a selection of high profile cricketers here to inspire our younger players.”
Arul Suppiah is well-known in Devon having played for Exmouth and Seaton, while studying for a business management degree at the University of Exeter.
He has scored well over 7,000 runs in his Somerset first team career to date, opening the batting in four-day cricket and slotting in wherever required in one-day matches.
He bowls left arm spin and has taken many wickets over the years including his twenty20 world record six for five against Glamorgan in 2011. He is also well known as one of the best fielders in the side.
