REAL MADRID look as if they have won the race to sign Monaco striker Radamel Falcao. The Colombian had been linked with moves to Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool this summer, but overnight, betting has been suspended on where Falcao will end up. It is expected that Madrid will complete his signing before Monday's transfer window deadline.

And in a further blow for Manchester City, Real Madrid are also looking into signing Alvaro Negredo. The striker has been slightly out of favour at the Etihad stadium recently and could be keen on a move back to Spain, according to the Mirror.

The race to sign Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley is hotting up, with Sky Sports suggesting that Hull City have joined Aston Villa and Valencia in wanting to sign the England international, although concerns over wages have meant that Aston Villa have slipped to the back of the queue.

Cleverely could be among 11 players who will either be arriving or leaving Old Traffford on Monday. It is expected that Shinji Kagawa, Javier Hernandez and Anderson will all depart, while Daley Blind is expected to join, while reports suggest that the move for Arturo Vidal is not yet dead.

Arsenal have joined Chelsea in triggering Loic Remy's release clause, according to Sky Sports. The QPR striker appeared to be on his way to Stamford Bridge when Chelsea agreed to pay the £10.5million fee set out in his contract, but now Arsenal have also triggered that clause, leaving Remy a choice to make as to where he wants to play his football.

Arsenal are also hoping to sign Southampton's French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin with the club apparently willing to the meet the £27million price tag.

Micah Richards could be chief among Sunderland's new signings with the Mirror reporting that Gus Poyet wants to sign the England man, potentially initially on a season-long loan.

And with transfer deadline day approaching, there is no surprise to find out that QPR boss Harry Redknapp is planning on being busy. Redknapp is talking to former club Tottenham about signing Brazilian midfielder Sandro and is also interested in West Ham midfielder Mo Diame. Lassana Diara, Gary Hooper, Joel Campbell, Fabio Borini and Ivan Strinic are all names who have also been linked with QPR in this morning's newspaper.
