A TAXI driver escaped with minor injuries after his car overturned in a collision in Paignton.
The 57-year-old driver of the Citroen Xsara, Mark Mooney, was reported trapped in the crash at traffic lights on the corner of Torquay Road and Seaway Lane at Preston. The junction remained closed for nearly three hours on Tuesday night.
By the time police, fire engines and local people got to him, Mr Mooney had managed to escape from the overturned vehicle.
The 24-year-old driver of a white Volkswagen Polo was being interviewed by police following the incident.
A police spokesman said: "We were called to Torquay Road at just before 11pm on Tuesday night after reports of a taxi on its roof after a two car collision at the traffic lights at the junction of Seaway Road.
"By the time officers arrived there was one walking wounded with minor injuries.
"The 24-year-old driver of the VW Polo, who is from Torquay, is being interviewed following the collision at the traffic lights."
On the Herald Express Facebook website injured taxi driver Mr Mooney explained how the collision happened and thanked members of the public who had helped him.
