TEIGNMOUTH X Factor finalist Luke Friend is dancing on the ceiling — staying in a mansion reportedly previously owned by Lionel Richie.
The 17-year-old student at Coombeshead Academy, Newton Abbot, is down to the final 12 acts in the national TV singing contest and is currently staying in the £5million digs.
"Wow, I didn't know it was owned by him," said Luke. "I've been living in London for the last three weeks. It's been good fun with the contestants.
"It's been hard to keep quiet and keep the secret about how we'd all done.
"All the singers who are through to the live shows are really nice and we're all getting on, there's no gossip."
Being in the big smoke is a big change from his life as a student living at home with his mum Sue and dad Steve.
"I'm quite independent, but I do miss my family," he said.
"My mum and dad will be coming to London as much as they can when I appear on the live shows."
Millions of viewers tuned in to see the teenager perform in St Tropez for the judges' houses stage of the contest on Saturday night.
His mentor Louis Walsh picked him for his final three acts in the 'boys' category after he belted out Canonball by Damian Rice.
Former Westlife star Shane Filan, All Saints singer Nicole Appleton and 1980s chart topper Sinitta helped Louis make his final decision.
"I came home and watched the show with my family," said Luke.
"It was a bit overwhelming, but I didn't cry," he joked.
"It was nerve wracking to watch even though I knew the outcome.
"St Tropez was incredible, really beautiful. I loved it there."
Luke is tipping 16-year-old Tamara Foster to take the X Factor title for 2013.
"Of course, I'd love to win, it would be such a massive life-changing thing," he said.
"But Tamara is so pretty and has a great voice."
Luke also favours Abi Alton.
"Out of everyone, she's near enough a girl version of me," he said. "She's got a different look and sound."
He is known for his unique look and distinctive hair style.
"I don't want to change that and so far, so good," he said.
Earlier this year Luke won national singing contest Teenstar, beating off thousands of hopefuls at London's O2.
He's also enjoyed success on the gigging circuit at venues such as Newton Abbot's the Jolly Farmer and Mama Stones in Exeter.
The youngster is also a talented actor and has had top roles in college productions such as Billy Elliot and We Will Rock You.
Meanwhile, Shelley Smith, who went to school in Teignmouth, is also an X Factor finalist and is being mentored by Sharon Osbourne.
