The Torbay lifeboat was called out to rescue a man with a head injury aboard a yacht off Berry Head this afternoon.
The man cut his head when he was hit with the boom on the boat.
A lifeboat crew assisted at 3.30pm and brought the man to shore.
"The crew had a doctor on the lifeboat who tended to the man," said a spokesman for Brixham Coastguard.
"It was concluded that he didn't need to go to hospital."
