TORQUAY United midfielder Joss Labadie has been charged with misconduct by the FA, over an alleged bite in the Gulls' clash against Chesterfield last month.

Labadie has been given until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge, which is believed to relate to an allegation of biting.

A statement from the FA said: "It is alleged that the player's behaviour in or around the 49th minute of this fixture constituted violent conduct."

No official complaint has been made by Chesterfield, and Torquay United manager Chris Hargreaves said after the game he was not aware of any such incident taking place.

However, should Labadie be found guilty of such an offence, he could face a lengthy ban.

A lot of things go on on the football pitch that can cause tempers to get frayed but there is no excuse for biting. That is the action of pond life and there is no place for that in the game. Torquay has a proud tradition of well behaved supporters and players alike. Do we really want people like that playing for the club?

Disgraceful. If found guilty he should receive no lesser punishment than the animal who plays for Liverpool received.
