The players of Torquay United FC took a tea break after their recent training session to raise awareness of Rowcroft Hospice's Care for a Cuppa campaign.

Rowcroft is hoping that hundreds of kind-hearted South Devon residents will get involved in holding a coffee morning or tea party in aid of their local hospice this March. The Torquay United team are keen supporters of the hospice and were thrilled to be asked to be ambassadors for the campaign.

"We try to support Rowcroft as much as we can, and think this is a great way for people to raise money for the hospice" said Kev Nicholson, Torquay United player. "It means you get to eat cake and drink tea and coffee – and the hospice gets a donation! Everyone's a winner!"

Last year, the first Care for a Cuppa raised nearly £7,000, with every penny being spent on Rowcroft's vital work. Whilst Rowcroft's main base is in Torquay, its services extend throughout South Devon. This covers some 300 square miles with the vast majority of patients receiving support and care in their own home.

"You can have a Care for a Cuppa party at home with friends, or get your colleagues at work to take part" said Laura Cameron, Community Fundraising Manager at Rowcroft. "Simply charge a donation for tea, cake and coffee and you'll be amazed at how much you can raise."

This year, as an extra incentive, all workplaces that hold a coffee morning or tea party for the hospice will have the chance to win a tray of donuts, to add a delicious surprise to their day.
