ONE of Torbay's most passionate and vocal Labour Party supporters has severed his links with the party claiming it is full of clones wearing Armani suits.

Paul Raybould, a former secretary of the local party, says the final straw was being overlooked as a candidate to fight the Tormohun Ward in Torquay for the party.

He said: "I have like many realized who have given back membership cards that it does not want active trade unionists who are not clones in Armani Suits as candidates for election.

"Locally it has become a Blairite, middle class focused entity, at times at meetings one felt like an outsider looking in or even as the enemy within.

"When you campaign over many years and not just at elections when it becomes popular to stand up and be counted.

"The values of 'traditional Labour' are all but gone in Torbay LP and that is why others have left over recent years.

On Facebook and by email the support from Conservative, Liberal Democrats, trade unionists and non-political sides has been greatly appreciated as have the ones from "Real Labour "people.

"Sadly the 'one man ego party' needs radical change before it will get back the members it has lost myself included.
