The newly opened Totnes Work Hub will be throwing open its doors on Friday 30 November and welcoming prospective users and any other interested parties to look around.

The special open day will also play host to a group of invited guests including MP for Totnes Sarah Wollaston, Cabinet Member for Economy, Enterprise and Employment Will Mumford and local member for Totnes, Paula Black.

The event will run from 10am until 1pm with a range of activities including guided tours, a chance to meet existing work hub users, the website team, in-house designers and find out about 'smart' website packages and discounted design offers.

There will also be an opportunity to find out about training workshops and special offers for 2013.

Cabinet member for Economy, Enterprise and Employment, Will Mumford said; "Work Hubs are just one of several projects to support the development of a stronger economy in Devon. With such a large proportion of small businesses and home workers in the county, the idea of work hubs has been a natural concept for us to adopt. Here in Totnes, the Hub is providing low cost, high quality work spaces with the opportunity for peer to peer networking and business support and I would thoroughly recommend people to come and have a look around."

Councillor Paula Black, local County Councillor for Totnes Rural, said; “This is a great opportunity for Totnes, as a town we have always piloted new ideas and ways of working, this project will provide models of employment which will help drive forward a newer sustainable economy.”

Work Hub manager, Celia Minoughan said; "We look forward to welcoming new businesses from the Totnes area at our Open Day to see our excellent offices, hot desks and our professional meeting rooms. Fifty local businesses have used the Work Hub facilities since we opened in August and given us great feedback. Come and find out about our new 2013 business support training programme and meet our graphic and web designers and others who can help your new business get off to a flying start.”

MP for Totnes, Sarah Wollaston will officially open the Work Hub at 11.30 before meeting some of the hub users. Around this time, reporters will have opportunities to take photographs and talk to invited guests.

People who are already using the Work Hub will also be on hand to talk to visitors about their experiences of using the new facility.

Rick Lawrence, Creative Director of Samskara Design says; " I have been using the Work Hub for the past two months now and have been very impressed with the business facilities and professional environment. The space is perfect for 'getting the job done' and I would not hesitate to recommend other people to come and have a look around themselves. It's a place to meet many diverse and interesting people and what's more it's a place to get a great coffee!"

Work hubs make smart use of space, serving more businesses than a traditional office by allowing people to book a 'hot desk' closer to home as and when they need it. This offers a more flexible working pattern for people in rural areas and market towns, enhancing collaboration opportunities, staggering the rush hour and providing a better work-life balance.

The Open Day will showcase the new workspace, meeting rooms, hot desks and office facilities on offer to local businesses, start-ups and home workers
