TO celebrate Paignton Zoo's 90th birthday they organised The Great Gorillas Project with partners across South Devon. Highly threatened in Africa, gorillas are an integral part of the zoo's animal collection.
The Great Gorillas Project showed how science and art can come together to create great beauty and inspire the imaginations of adults and children alike. The initiative is also to raise funds to help some of our wild relatives survive into the future.
Pippa Craddock from Paignton Zoo said: "We are really proud of the work of the whole team. The whole project has been embraced by the whole of the community.
"The object was to bring art to the wider community which it absolutely has done.
"We knew it would be popular but we've been overwhelmed by the support here. So many people have got behind the project, followed the trail, downloaded the app from the ages of 0 to 90. We've had fantastic facebook posts. It has surprised us the support and along the way we have raised the plight of the gorillas. It will be sad to see it finish."
