TIEGAN FLAY won three gold medals when she competed in her first international competition recently.
Having only received her tae kwon do black belt several weeks earlier, the Coombeshead Academy year 10 student (pictured above) travelled to Ireland with the PUMA (professional unification of martial arts) squad team.
In her first black belt competition, she gained gold in traditional patterns, gold in individual sparring and gold in the team sparring.
The 14-year-old was also double gold medallist when she competed in the British Open Tae Kwon Do Championships recently.
The British Open was held at Newport in South Wales and Tiegan beat off competition from 350 young people to come back with two gold medals; the first was in traditional patterns and the second was in sparring.
