UPDATE: Work is ongoing to restore the line between Exeter and Taunton, with engineers estimating they will hand back the track at 4pm tomorrow. There will be limited signalling in operation, which will restrict services to two trains per hour in each direction.

There has been further disruption to the train lines after engineers discovered a mud slip between Teignmouth and Dawlish this afternoon.

The railway line has been closed between Plymouth and Exeter and the line between Exeter and Newton Abbot has been opened with caution.

Network Rail say there will only be one train per hour in each direction between Newton Abbot and Exeter.

More updates later.
