THIS WEEK'S 2-1 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers was Torquay United's seventh successive league loss, one short of the club 'record'.

United have lost eight on the trot three times before in their history – in March-April 1948, September-November 1971 and September-November 1995.

The 1995 slump was made worse by additional League Cup and Auto Windscreen Shield defeats.

ON HIS BIKE!: New Gulls interim manager Alan Knill is a mad-keen bike rider.

He's got his machine with him in Torquay and has already tackled a few roads around the bay, so give him a wave if you see him in the saddle.
