THE first Sky Ride Torbay was a huge success on Sunday, with more than 3,500 cyclists enjoying a traffic-free route around Paignton and Preston seafronts.
The route was officially opened by Torbay Mayor Gordon Oliver and allowed cyclists of all ages and abilities to enjoy a traffic-free ride.
Brian Johnston, British Cycling Recreational Manager for the South West, said: "It was amazing to see thousands of cyclists take to the streets for the first Sky Ride Torbay.
"It's encouraged people in the local area to get out on their bike, and it highlights all the brilliant cycling opportunities British Cycling and Torbay Council will continue to deliver in the area."
There was plenty of entertainment on offer for both cyclists and spectators.
The North Green played host to a Go-Ride skills area where youngsters were encouraged to try their hand at some new bike handling techniques.
The event also fell on the second Sunday of Paignton Regatta, with crowds packing the Green for the various regatta events.
