RISING ski star Ellaouise Kilroy-Silk finished her first competition season on a high by winning the Welsh Open Championship at Pontypool Ski centre, writes Conrad Sutcliffe.
Kilroy-Silk (10), who attends Stoodley Knowle School in Torquay, put down two excellent runs in the girls' U12 category.
The championship consisted of two timed runs in the morning on course 1 and two timed runs in the afternoon on course two.
The fastest single time recorded from each session was added together to make a combined total.
In the morning's races Kilroy-Silk put in a solid performance but trailed first place by 0.08 seconds (800ths of a second).
Determined to make up the gap in the afternoon's races, the Torquay Alpine Ski Club member had a superb first run of 25.39 seconds leaving her 0.69 seconds ahead of the second placed racer.
In the second run of the afternoon session no other racer was able to match the pace set by Kilroy-Silk.
With the results from the two sessions combined she won by a margin of 0.61 seconds.
"It was a fantastic end to Ellaouise's first full season racing with a total of seven wins and three second places," said proud dad Dominic.
