POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery.
A 49-year-old male was walking in the area when a man tried to grab his rucksack.
A struggle ensued and the victim received superficial injuries believed to be from a weapon.
The victim received medical treatment at Torbay District Hospital.
The incident happened at approximately 5.30pm on Thursday July 18 in Cockington.
Detective Inspector Kay Chapman said: "This is a rare incident in this area and I would like any further witnesses to come forward and contact police as soon as possible in order to assist in this investigation."
The suspect is described as white man, aged in his twenties, approximately 5'10" in height with a full dark head of hair, stubble and wore dark clothing.
