A WOMAN was cut free from her car after it crashed on Barton Hill Road this afternoon.
The two vehicle collision took place at about 2.40pm at the zebra crossing close to the row of shops.
Firefighters removed the door to get to the driver of the green Ford Fiesta which has been in collision with a black Audi.
Police closed the road at the junction with Clennon Lane while the woman was released and the scene cleared.
She is believed to have suffered whiplash injuries and was taken to Torbay Hospital.
One witness, Louise Cole, said she thought the Fiesta driver had stopped to let a pedestrian cross the road moments before the collision.
The female driver of the Audi was unhurt.
Both cars were badly damaged.
Diversions were put in place while the scene was cleared.
