- New for 2012, High Cross House is open under National Trust management. Built as a 'machine for living in' for William Curry, headmaster of Dartington Hall School, this Modernist gem was commissioned by Leonard Elmhirst and designed by William Lescaze in 1932. The house still evokes the 'serenity, clarity and a kind of openness' described by Curry.
Two rooms at High Cross House still contain the original furniture, the rest of the house is open 'naked'. Come along and have your say as to how the house should be adorned in the future! High Cross is also playing host to contemporary art exhibitions and sales.
With a combined shopping and dining area, browse while you enjoy your meal, or come along to late night opening on Fridays for wine and canapes.
