THE TLH Derwent Hotel, part of the Torquay based TLH Leisure Resort, has been awarded 3 Stars by VisitEngland's National Quality Assessment Scheme, and with 174 bedrooms is officially the largest 3 Star hotel in Torbay.
The nationally recognised scheme shows a public commitment to quality and allows the hotel to display a label guests can trust.
Jason Garside, TLH Derwent Hotel's, general manager, is no stranger to bringing a 2 star hotel up to 3 star standard. Back in 2004 he nurtured the group's TLH Carlton Hotel through the same process.
He said: "Our team has worked incredibly hard to ensure the TLH Derwent was up to the rigorous assessment and I want to thank them all.
"The process hasn't changed a great deal in the last 12 years, but with 174 bedrooms, rather than the TLH Carlton's 50, it was definitely more of a challenge. It is a fitting achievement after the considerable investment in our bedrooms and public areas."
The Quality in Tourism inspector who carried out the assessment stated '...it is a pleasure to recommend that the higher 3 Star Hotel rating be awarded, reflecting the investment and commitment carried out. Well done! It is also a great credit to the team to hear that further investment and staff training is planned...'.
This latest development now brings each of the four TLH Leisure Hotels up to 3 Star standard which can only help maintain its presence as the leading hotel group on the English Riviera, with a total of 418 rooms and 17 apartments.
Along with its outstanding leisure facilities, including the Aztec Leisure complex of 25 metre indoor pool, spa, gym, fitness studio, games arena and bistro, the hotels are on track to offer guests a fantastic, quality experience this summer.
