GLASSES are being raised at Bays Brewery in Paignton following its triumph in the National Business Awards 2014, run by the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA), which has 800 members, and to which the local brewer belongs.

Bays Brewery was named as winner of the Best Green Business Award at SIBA's BeerX event, held in Sheffield.

Bays was praised for its environmentally friendly approach to brewing, which includes a £30,000 investment in solar power and its use of local suppliers which has helped it to significantly reduce its carbon footprint.

Peter Salmon, director at Bays, said: "We pride ourselves on our green credentials, so it is wonderful to receive this award.

"We are currently working on a number of other environmental initiatives to put us at the forefront of our industry."
