IN October Powderham Food Festival is celebrating Pickling, Potting and Preserving with everything from jam to modern food preservation technology.
Heading the talks will be the Incredible Spice Men, Tony Singh and Cyrus Todiwala, recently seen on BBC2, and television gardening broadcaster Toby Buckland, who will be giving a talk on 'How to grow your garden and eat it', then hosting a panel of experts for a foodie gardening question-time session.
There will also be a jams and pickles Q and A sessions and the festival will be packed with cooking demonstrations and talks which will comprise experts in their field , from smoking, potting and preserving in every way... charcutiers, cheesemakers, growers, game merchants, fish smokers, jam and chutney makers. They'll be more than 100 food stalls, a preserves competition, children's gardening activities, apple pressings, workshops with the castle's 'Victorian Cook' and live music to keep you entertained.
Demonstrations and talks will be held in three venues — the main marquee in the Rose Garden, the Victorian Kitchen and informal demos in the Potting Shed. The festival takes place at Powderham on October 5 from 10.30am until 5pm.
