RICHARD Cuming is a partner at Bygones in St Marychurch. He was born and brought up in the Bay. He is the chairman of the English Riviera Attractions Partnership and sits on a number of committees including the mayor's events and cruise ship forums.
His interests include collecting antiques, travel, military history, politics and sport. He is a well-known West Ham fan, an area committee member of Somerset CCC and supporter of England rugby .
Richard is delighted to have been asked to chair the awards for a second year as he believes the Bay has so many businesses offering value, superb service and quality which should be celebrated.
CHRIS Hart is the Managing Partner of South Devon law firm Wollen Michelmore LLP, which this year has been named Regional Law Firm of the Year for the South West. Chris leads the licensing department which has also won the prestigious title of Licensing Law Firm of the Year for England, and is the Chair of the Law Management Section of the Law Society of England and Wales. He is also the Chair of the English Riviera Tourism Company and is delighted to lead the board in delivering the "Turning the Tide" strategy.
CAROLYN Custerson is Chief Executive of the English Riviera Tourism Company. She has had notable experience of judging local and regional tourism awards having been a judge and mystery visitor for both the Visit Devon and South West Tourism Awards programmes in recent years. Locally, Carolyn is striving to drive up quality standards through the implementation of the Turning the Tide for Tourism in Torbay Strategy supported by the delivery of the Welcome English Riviera Customer Service Training Programme. The ERTC is itself a multi award winning company with Carolyn being voted Woman of the Year for Business in the 2013 Woman of Achievement Awards run by the Herald Express. Carolyn has over 30 years experience in the Tourism Industry.
JESSICA Yeoman is the Marketing Manager at Visit South Devon. Her role consists of delivering the marketing of the region through a range of online and offline activities aimed to achieve tourism strategy objectives throughout the Teignbridge and South Hams area. She is responsible for the development and delivery of the business strategy and marketing plan to achieve membership targets and work to develop partnerships aimed at increasing the competitive position of South Devon as a quality, all year round holiday destination to both staying and day visitors. Visit South Devon is the area tourism partnership responsible for promoting South Devon to national and regional audiences.
SARAH Davey is the Founder and Director at Attention Media, an integrated communications agency based in Exeter.Sarah has over ten years experience working in PR and marketing and set up Attention Media in 2011 to help businesses grow through recommending relevant and strategic marketing and PR campaigns. With a passion for tourism and hospitality, Attention Media has represented tourist attractions in Devon and Cornwall and Sarah is delighted to be a judge again on awards that reward tourism and hospitality."Being involved in the awards has allowed me to reconnect with what is available and it is a real privilege to be involved in rewarding the efforts an industry that work tirelessly."
ROSALIND Prowse is Chairman of Teignbridge District Council and has been a councillor in SW Dawlish for the last 11 years. Rosalind came to Dawlish 44 years ago and has spent a large part of that time working in catering and its connected services. Rosalind considers tourism to be the most important economic asset we have in Devon.
BARRY Cole, Owner, BCA - Advisors to Small Businesses. Barry attended Hotel School in Lausanne and worked in France and, Austria. He was MD of the Osborne Hotel and then MD of the Riviera Centre until 2012. Barry was recognised for his contribution to tourism with a Special Award for Services to Tourism in 2010, a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011 and in 2012 an award for Outstanding Dedication to Tourism. He is a Master Innholder and was Chairman in 1994/5.
JONPAUL Hedge is a former old boy of Torquay Boys' Grammar School who is celebrating 10 years at the Herald Express. After studying Politics and International Relations at Swansea University he started off as the university paper's photography editor. He then volunteered with VSO in Arkhanglesk, Russia. More recent trips for VSO include Burma/Thaliand and he has worked with Oxfam to prepare volunteer team leaders for their Oxjam festivals. JP is vice chairman of The Friends of Factory Row who help the homeless in South Devon. He lives in Stoke Gabriel with wife Stacey, Harry, 1, and dog Honey
