ONGOING problems over international clearance for four of their overseas-born youngsters continues to hamper Torquay United's Youth team, which lost 1-0 to Bristol Rovers in the FL Alliance Group Cup last weekend.
The Gulls have several Cypriot and Ulster teenagers in their squad, and Head of Youth Geoff Harrop explained: "It is disappointing that FIFA are taking so long to get the registrations through.
"We are totally in their hands, and there are other clubs also struggling to get clearance.
"These boys are Under-18, and the process involves numerous letters regarding their welfare, which we fully understand but the delays are still frustrating."
United have called on players from their Development Squad at Paignton Community College, who have done well in the circumstances.
They lost to a last-minute goal against Rovers, Harrop rating a much-improved display from the previous 5-1 defeat by Exeter City.
The young Gulls travel to Plymouth Argyle in the Alliance this Saturday (11am).
