HEALTH and social care staff who go above and beyond their role and make a real difference across Torbay and South Devon are to be recognised in the Blue Shield Awards 2014.
And the health service is appealing for nominations from the public.
The annual awards, organised in partnership by Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust and South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust which runs Torbay Hospital, are held to celebrate and recognise staff for their hard work and dedication to patients and service users.
There are a total of 10 categories within the awards including individual, team, partnership, sustainability, equality and diversity, volunteer, carers and the lifetime achievement awards.
Adrienne Murphy, joint director of human resources for South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust, said: "The Blue Shield Awards offer us an invaluable opportunity to publicly thank our staff, volunteers and carers who go above and beyond their roles every day.
"All of our staff work extremely hard to ensure each person who comes into our care gets the highest quality of service.
"The awards are all about recognising the people who are making a real difference to health and social care, and sharing and celebrating at a local level some of the many success stories."
Service users, patients, voluntary organisations and staff can go online to complete a nomination form or you can pick up a copy of the nomination form from a variety of health and social care sites.
Application forms can be downloaded via www.sdhis.nhs.uk/blueshieldawards or you can pick up a form at Torbay Hospital or your local community hospital throughout Torbay and South Devon.
Alternatively request a nomination form by emailing on email@example.com or 01803 210506.
