A SUICIDAL teenager was talked down from a railway bridge in Devon on Thursday afternoon.

Police were contacted regarding concerns for the welfare of a 19 year old woman at 2.40pm on a railway bridge in Exminster.

A National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter aided officers in locating the young woman, who was found at a bridge over a railway line on Milbury Lane at 3.30pm.

The woman went voluntarily with paramedics who treated a wound to her arm.

If you are feeling troubled you can call the Samaritans' 24-hour confidential helpline on 116 123.

This is what makes a mockery of the Mental Health system in Devon. A thing like this must cost a small fortune for all the services that have to attend and the time taken. Yet the mental health teams, especially in Torbay, do not bother with people as much as they used to or even should. According to NHS figures that are published, 85 % of older mental health people are not getting the care they need. Now it seems with the rise in depressed younger people they are not getting the help. It must be more cost efficient to prevent this sort of thing than let it go to this point? Or are they hoping they kill themselves and that saves them the time and money on treatments?????? I only say this because I have been fighting to get help for an over 60 year old person from the mental health team in Torbay for over 10 years and I still cannot get anywhere. I do believe people are not really that aware of the seriousness of this problem all over the country.
