First time buyer's delight

I WAS born in Torbay and went to Torquay Girls' Grammar School.

Having grown up in the area, this was of course the main reason behind my decision to purchase a property in Torbay but aside from this, Torbay is, of course, a beautiful location to live in and the more relaxed pace of life is ideal for business persons wishing to have a work/life balance.

The property that I am purchasing is situated in the Willows and is a three bedroom semi-detached house with garden, conservatory and separate dining room.

I was looking for a suitable property for a number of months but I still found that there were a fair number of properties available in my price range.

The location of the Willows in Torquay is of course ideally situated for commuters travelling to and from Exeter and Plymouth.

I am a solicitor and work for Fursdon Knapper Solicitors in Plymouth and so my daily commute to work will be shorter from my new home.

In addition, the area of the Willows is conveniently situated to local shops and is in general a peaceful and pleasant area to live in.

One of the main hurdles that first time buyers face nowadays is saving for a deposit and although some lenders will allow you to borrow if a first time buyer has a 10 per cent deposit, I have found that the mortgage deals available with a 15 per cent deposit are far more competitive in terms of the interest rate offered.

I have been living with my parents in Torquay for the last three years prior to purchasing my property, otherwise it would have been impossible to save for the required deposit.

It was important for me when considering what property to buy that the mortgage payments would be affordable and the monthly repayments are considerably less by paying a slightly higher deposit.

The process of obtaining a mortgage and the buying process was made considerably easier as I used the services of a local mortgage broker, Mark Rainey Mortgages Ltd.

I have found that this has been instrumental in securing the best possible mortgage deal for my circumstances and also ensuring that the mortgage was approved quickly.

I would hardly say that the Willows is 'ideally suited for commuters travelling to and from Exeter and Plymouth' Is that what the Estate Agent told you? Surely places like Newton Abbot, Chudleigh, Bovey, Ashburton etc. are much better suited to these commuters?
