A BRAVE member of the public retrieved cash after they pursued a knifeman following an armed robbery at a Preston newsagents on Sunday morning.
Police are hunting for the robber who went into M&S News in Old Torquay Road at around 9.45am and threatened staff with a knife.
He initially made off with £80 in cash but this was retrieved by the member of the public who went after him.
Police were alerted just before 10am and the police helicopter was called out to assist officers in the search for the offender.
It is the second reported armed robbery in 24 hours in Paignton. On Saturday a man entered Natwest in Victoria Street saying he had a weapon and demanding cash.
It is not known if the incidents are linked at this stage.
The suspects in both robberies are outstanding. Police are making inquiries, and are appealing to the public for anyone who may be able to assist them with any information.
